The AW189 is a mid-to-large capacity, civil-orientated version of the military AW149, first launched in 2016. Aspects of the AW189 are deliberately similar to the AW139 and AW169, but it is the largest of all its series. The AW189 is also the only super-medium helicopter with a Full Ice Protection System (FIPS)
Features
AW189 has the capacity to operate in all-weather conditions search and rescue, medical evacuation, executive and private transport. It is a multi-purpose helicopter that can accommodate medical equipment and healthcare professionals. With its cabin configurable to specific needs of customers, it is widely adopted for VIP transportation.
With the largest passenger cabin in its class, it can accommodate up to 17 passengers in a spacious and relaxing environment. Its luggage compartment, easily accessible from outside, provides sufficient space for cargo.
Unique features of the helicopter include the main transmission’s capability to run without oil for 50 minutes and a built-in Auxiliary Power Unit (APU). The AW189, equipped with new Safran Aneto-1K engine, will extend the range of operations of the aircraft to high altitude and high temperature conditions.
